WinGuard enhances availability and transparency

January 23, 2026 – With Build 6, WinGuard expands its fail-safe functions while simplifying the setup and management of distributed systems. The new redundancy for the location server and a central network overview ensure higher availability, better transparency, and significantly reduced commissioning and operating costs. In distributed WinGuard systems, the location server plays a central role: it connects servers, operator stations, and other system components with each other. If it fails, this can have a direct impact on operations. With the new version, WinGuard addresses precisely this risk and takes network management to a new level.

The initial situation

The previous WinGuard network setup was based on established and reliable procedures. The configuration of the operator stations was carried out directly on site, which allowed for a high degree of control during commissioning, especially for smaller installations. However, as the system grew in size, the time required increased, as each operator station had to be set up individually. Basic information was also available for troubleshooting, but in more complex scenarios, this could require additional analysis. Until now, there was no comprehensive, central overview of all components of the WinGuard network, meaning that the overall status of the system could only be monitored decentrally.

The innovations at a glance

With Build 6, WinGuard introduces several key improvements:

    1. Redundancy for the location server: The location server can now be operated in hot standby mode. If the active system fails, the standby server automatically takes over – for maximum availability.
    2. Central network overview: A graphical display shows all servers, location servers, operator stations, and groups, as well as their connections.
    3. Remote configuration: The main server creates an intuitive graphical user interface that can be used to configure operator stations centrally and remotely.
    4. Intuitive operation: System components can be conveniently assigned and structured using drag & drop.
    5. Automatic error detection: Configuration errors during the setup of operator stations are automatically detected and corrected.
Added value for partners and users

The new central management system enables partners to efficiently set up, monitor, and, if necessary, adjust entire WinGuard networks—without having to access each control station individually. WinGuard users benefit from increased operational reliability and improved monitoring of the entire system landscape. “With the redundancy of the location server and the new network overview, we are not only increasing reliability, but also significantly simplifying installation and operation,” explains Lars Waldow, CPO at Advancis. “Our customers get more transparency, less effort, and added security.”

Availability and updates

The new features are available from Build 6 onwards. For end users and integrators, the following applies: With an existing LCS contract, both the location server failover and the new network overview are included in every WinGuard license and can be used without additional license costs. However, failover requires the installation of an additional location server.
